Note that while the public APIs and directly downalodable datasets comprise only data that is freely reusable requesting born digital archives and other data is reviewed on a case by case basis. Reviews are performed on the basis of Swedish legislation.

Public APIs

The National Archives' data platform includes a number of publicly available APIs. These APIs provide read access to open, publicly available data that is older than 110 years (thus containing no information about living persons) and links to digitized archival documents that are in the public domain.

Downloadable datasets for free reuse

Freely reusable downloadable datasets from archives preserved at the National Archives. Some of the datasets contain data included in archives delivered to the National Archives, some have been produced within the National Archives' operations, while others have been created by citizen scientists and donated into the public domain.

Inventory of born digital archives

Born digital is the National Archives' inventory of registers, databases and websites created and delivered by public authorities, committees and individual archive creators. These archives have been produced digitally and are also preserved digitally. As confidentiality checks are always made, the archives are not directly available on the web or for download.

Request datasets

You can request access to datasets that are not available online in the National Archives Database or are not accessible via the public APIs. Requests will be reviewed and managed on a case by case basis.
