Death records Search tips

First name Info

Enter all or any of the first names. Full name gives a more precise search. Keep in mind that different types of spelling may occur, ex Pär, Pehr.

Last name Info

Enter the last name. Keep in mind that different types of spelling may occur, ex. Pärsson, Pehrson.

Place of residence Info

Enter the name of the village, farm or area in the parish.

Parish Info

Enter the birth parish of the person or the parish of the event. Modern spelling is normally used, but old fashioned spelling may also occur. Ex. Ådals-Liden, Ådalsliden, Övergård, Öfvergård.

Date

The dates can be dead or burial dates.

Enter date or year, ex. 1890-12-02 or 1890. You can search between two years or two dates and between year and date, you will then receive the existing information between them. You can also choose to search from or to a specific date or year by using only one of the fields.

Relative's firstname Info

County

Search tips

Simple search: Enter one or more keywords. To generate a hit all words must appear in the record.

Truncation: Use asterisk (*) to find words with a varying ending or beginning. Searching for rose* will find rosebud, rosebush, roseship, rosemary etc. Searching for *house will find greenhouse, dollhouse and steakhouse etc.

Exact phrases: Use quotation marks ('' '') when searching for exact phrases. E.g. a search for ''Swedish kings'' will generate hits where the words appear together and in that particular order.

Wildcard (character): Use question mark (?) when searching for spelling variations of a word. The question mark is used to replace any single character. E.g. a search for wom?n will find both woman and women.

Exclude a word: Use minus sign (-) to exclude a search word. E.g. a search for Uppsala – castle will find all records containing the word Uppsala but not the records which at the same time contain the word castle.
