F. 184v. [Oratio] (15th century addition, nordic writing, maybe the same as the one by which the antiphona on f. 1 was copied). One can only read a few words in the middle of the page: "...[Deus] qui beatos tres magos orientales [Caspar,] Mælchior, Balthazar ad tua [cunabula] ut te misticis...".

End of the 13th century-Beginning of the 14th century. Textualis Libraria. Two hands (one for the calendar, one for the other parts of the Psalter). - Flemish decoration. Full-page miniatures (paintings): Annunciation (f. 13v), Presentation of Jesus at the Temple (f. 14v). Small illustrations (paintings) for each month of the calendar (f. 7-12v). Big historiated initials at the beginning of Ps. 1 (f. 15; David playing harp/Daving slaying Goliath), 26 (f. 39v; s. Andrew), 38 (f. 55v; Christ holding a palm leaf), 51 (f. 69; s. John), 68 (f. 82v; male saint holding a book), 101 (f. 117v; s. Paul), 109 (f. 133v; saint Bartholomew), each of them of gold on painted background, with marginal extensions, sometimes historiated (for instance: bowman, f. 15). Medium-sized decorated initials at the beginning of the other Psalms and of the months of the calendar, each of them of gold on painted background, with marginal extensions (except for the calendar). Small painted initials at the beginning of each verse, alternately blue with red flourishing and gold with blue flourishing. Painted line-fillers (red and blue). - 26 quires of 8 leaves, except quires nr 1 (6 leaves, f. 1-6), nr 2 (6 leaves, f. 7-12), nr 3 (2 leaves, f. 13-14; 4 leaves have been cut), nr 9 (6 leaves, f. 55-60), nr 10 (6 leaves, f. 61-66), nr 11 (7 leaves, f. 67-73; 1 leaf has been cut), nr 13 (6 leaves, f. 82-87), nr 15 (5 leaves, f. 96-100; 1 leaf has been cut), nr 16 (6 leaves, f. 101-106), nr 18 (7 leaves, f. 115-121; 1 leaf has been cut), nr 21 (6 leaves, f. 138-143). The first quire seems to have been added later. The text of the Psalter ends on the second pastdown but the writing seems different than the rest of the text; perhaps it was (re)copied when it was binded, but one can see an addition on the back of this leaf that is now somewhat loose. However that may be, it is very difficult to reconstruct chronologically the different stages of the construction of the book. F. 14 is blank. Some leaves are missing, maybe those with rich miniatures: between f. 13 and 14, f. 14 and 15 (3 leaves missing), f. 69 and 70, f. 99 and 100, f. 115 and 116. On f. 75, medieval reparation at the bottom corner.- Some medieval additions or comments (f. ex.: on f. 18v, "Servite Deo in timore" from a 14th century hand). On the first pastedown, several trials for writing the beginning of the antiphonia Magi videntes that was finally copied on f. 1 (15th century): "M", "Magi", "Magi videntes". First pastedown and f. 1v, anathema (15th century): "Res inventa et non restituta est qua si furta". Notes in Swedish on first pastedown, f. 1, 6v, 39, 121, 123 (16 th-17th century). Several pen-trials on first pastedown, f. 1, f. 104v. - Flemish origin, maybe Cambrai (cf. I. Collijn, "Ett nekrologium från Johanniterklostret i Eskiltuna", in Nordisk tidskrift för bok- och biblioteksväsen, vol. 16, 1929, p. 4-5) or Saint-Omer (cf. Gyllene böcker: illuminerade medeltida handskrifter i dansk och svenska ägo (Nationalmuseum/Stockholm, Maj-September 1952), 1952, p. 39), probably written for a female community (cf. on f. 183v the prayer "Famulam tuam quesumus Domine tua semper protectione custodi...", instead of "Famulum tuum..."). Before 1384-1407 in the monastery of Eskilstuna, where the necrologium was added to the calendar (cf. ibid., p. 5). At the first pastedown, ex-libris of Johannes Messenius (ca. 1579-1636): "Johannis Messeni". - Old finding number: 9 (on the back of the manuscript).

Parchment. Lead point ruling. 183 ff. 100 x 150 mm (justif. 55 x 85 mm). - Old binding (15th century; it is not contemporary, as additional text is written on the verso of the second pastedown). Red sheepskin on wooden boards. Remnants of old clasps (two holes on each cover and remnant of a green fabric strap at the bottom). Engraved edges.
