13th-14th century. Textualis Libraria. One hand. - Illustrated or decorated initials at the beginning of each prologue or biblical book (gold on painted background). Red and blue painted initials with branches and j-borders at the beginning of each chapter (and of each verse for the Psalms). Red and blue numbers of chapters. Red and blue running titles. - ??? quires of ??? leaves. F. 4-6 and 582v are blank. F. 4-6 were added subsequently. F. 31 and 377 mutilated (f. 377 almost completely). - Several corrections and additions to the Bible text by several hands in the margins (14th-15th centuries). At the beginning, on the 4th flyleaf (r), inscription in italian (?) from the 16th-17th century: "Mia gausaa ... (?)". - Probably from Parisian origin. The manuscript may have been owned by Jesuits (their coat of arms has been blindstamped probably during the 17th century on each cover). - Old finding number: 7 (on the back of the manuscript).

Parchment. Lead point ruling. 629 ff., preceded and followed by 4 parchment flyleaves. Written on 2 colums. 90 x 145 mm (justif. 60 x 100 mm). - Old binding (probably 15th-16th century). Dark calf on wooden boards. Blindstamped covering: the original decoration may have consisted of fillets around each cover with flowers at each corner; the coat of arms of the Jesuits must have been added subsequently (probably 17th century). Two decorated brass clasps (the strap of the bottom clasp is broken). Engraved edges.

Full-page miniatures (paintings): Annunciation (f. 13v), Presentation of Jesus at the Temple (f. 14v). Small illustrations (paintings) for each month of the calendar (f. 7-12v). Big historiated initials at the beginning of Ps. 1 (f. 15; David playing harp/Daving slaying Goliath), 26 (f. 39v; s. Andrew), 38 (f. 55v; Christ holding a palm leaf), 51 (f. 69; s. John), 68 (f. 82v; male saint holding a book), 101 (f. 117v; s. Paul), 109 (f. 133v; saint Bartholomew), each of them of gold on painted background, with marginal extensions, sometimes historiated (for instance: bowman, f. 15). Medium-sized decorated initials at the beginning of the other Psalms and of the months of the calendar, each of them of gold on painted background, with marginal extensions (except for the calendar). Small painted initials at the beginning of each verse, alternately blue with red flourishing and gold with blue flourishing. Painted line-fillers (red and blue). - 26 quires of 8 leaves, except quires nr 1 (6 leaves, f. 1-6), nr 2 (6 leaves, f. 7-12), nr 3 (2 leaves, f. 13-14; 4 leaves have been cut), nr 9 (6 leaves, f. 55-60), nr 10 (6 leaves, f. 61-66), nr 11 (7 leaves, f. 67-73; 1 leaf has been cut), nr 13 (6 leaves, f. 82-87), nr 15 (5 leaves, f. 96-100; 1 leaf has been cut), nr 16 (6 leaves, f. 101-106), nr 18 (7 leaves, f. 115-121; 1 leaf has been cut), nr 21 (6 leaves, f. 138-143). The first quire seems to have been added later. The text of the Psalter ends on the second pastdown but the writing seems different than the rest of the text; perhaps it was (re)copied when it was binded, but one can see an addition on the back of this leaf that is now somewhat loose. However that may be, it is very difficult to reconstruct chronologically the different stages of the construction of the book. F. 14 is blank. Some leaves are missing, maybe those with rich miniatures: between f. 13 and 14, f. 14 and 15 (3 leaves missing), f. 69 and 70, f. 99 and 100, f. 115 and 116. On f. 75, medieval reparation at the bottom corner.- Some medieval additions or comments (f. ex.: on f. 18v, "Servite Deo in timore" from a 14th century hand). On the first pastedown, several trials for writing the beginning of the antiphonia Magi videntes that was finally copied on f. 1 (15th century): "M", "Magi", "Magi videntes". First pastedown and f. 1v, anathema (15th century): "Res inventa et non restituta est qua si furta". Notes in Swedish on first pastedown, f. 1, 6v, 39, 121, 123 (16 th-17th century). Several pen-trials on first pastedown, f. 1, f. 104v. - Flemish origin, maybe Cambrai (cf. I. Cf. 15th century, probably begun shortly before 1446 and completed shortly after 1489. A note at the end of the Officium Visitationis Marie (f. 43) says "Conpletum in vigilia Nativitatis Johannis Baptiste [i. e. June 23rd] anno Domini Mo CCCCo XLVIo per A. de V. p. (for presbiterum ?) in Pynstorp [today Pingsdorf, a part of Brühl, 20 km south of Cologne]. Dei gracias". Since it is at least the second hand in the manuscript, it is highly possible that it was begun earlier (but rather shortly before, as the writing suggests). On the other hand, the Mirabilia urbis Rome at the end of the manuscript was copied from an incunable printed in 1489; the writing also suggests that it must has been copied quite shortly after this date. Cursiva currens. 5 hands: f. 1-28v, f. 29-43, f. 43v-49v, f. 50-68 and f. 71-142v. - Rubricated initials at the beginning of some chapters or parts of each work except between fol. 48 and 68. Rubricated frames (f. ex. f. 1). Rubrics (only until f. 28v). - 13 quires of 10 leaves, except quires nr 3 (8 leaves, f. 21-28), nr 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 (12 leaves, f. 70-129) and nr 13 (14 leaves, f. 130-143). Signatures only for the last 6 quires (f. 70-143), some of them invisible after the cutting of the leaves: a1-6, b1-6, c1-6, d1-6, e1-6, f1-7, each of them rubricated at the bottom right corner of the verso of the pages.
