End of the 13th century. Textualis Formata. One hand. - Small illustrations (paintings in medallions) in the calendar, two for each month: one for the monthly work, one for the astrological sign (f. 1-6v). Big historiated initials at the beginning of Ps. 1 (f. 7), 26 (f. 24; David pointing at his head), 38 (f. 35v; David praying), 52 (f. 46; the Fool challenging God), 68 (f. 57; God above David in the Waters escaping from a fish), 80 (f. 71v; David playing bells), 97 (f. 84v; Cantors), 110 (f. 98; Coronation of the Virgin), each of them of gold on painted background, with marginal extensions, sometimes historiated (f. ex.: heads, f. 98). Medium-sized decorated initials at the beginning of the other Psalms and of the months of the calendar, each of them of gold on painted background. Small painted initials at the beginning of each verse, alternately blue with red flourishing and red with blue flourishing. Painted line-fillers (red and blue), sometimes historiated (f. ex.: fish, f. 43 or bird head, f. 97), sometimes with a touch of gold. - 12 quires of 12 leaves, except quires nr 1 (6 leaves, f. 1-6), nr 2 (10 leaves, f. 7-16), nr 9 (9 leaves, f. 89-97; f. 97 on stub), nr 12 (13 leaves, f. 122-134; f. 134 glued later on f. 133). Catchwords (f. 16v, 28v, 40v, 64v, 76v, 88v). Modern foliation (17th century). Some medieval reparations. - A few medieval marginal notes, some of them maybe by the writer of the manuscript. - The calendar points out an English origin; several removals of English saints and additions of Swedish saints have been made subsequently, maybe from the end of the 14th century: e. g., in October (f. 5), "Sancti Eskilli episcopi et martyris, duplex" [6th] added on scratching, "Canonizacio beate Birgitte" [8th] added subsequently, "Translatio sancti Edwardi regis" [13th] scratched, "Octava sancte Birgitte" [14th] added subsequently (cf. Gyllene böcker: illuminerade medeltida handskrifter i dansk och svensk ägo (Nationalmuseum/Stockholm, Maj-September 1952), 1952, p. 38). Given by Johan Ihre (1707-1780) to Carl Gustav Bielke (1683-1754) (cf. on the first pastedown: "Detta precieusa manuscript har Hr Professoren Johan Ihre gifwit til mit Bibliothec widh Sahlstadh 1743 (Signed:) C. G. Bielke"). - Old finding number: 126 (on the back of the manuscript).

Parchment. Lead point ruling. 134 ff, preceded and followed by 1 paper flyleaf. 185 x 265 (justif. 110 x 175 mm). - Modern quarter binding (17th or 18th century). Parchment and combed paper. Red painted edges. Golden title label: "MANUALE."
