Contents
Contents van Dijck and Rutgers have received AO's letter of March 26th O. S. [instructing them to have the States General contact Elector John George of Brandenburg as if it were on their own initiative, and propose a marriage between the Elector's daughter and the King of Sweden]. Having consulted Oldenbarnevelt, Muys van Holy and Joachimi they have found that the best way is to proceed through the Dutch ambassador at Königsberg, Sticke, who will not arouse suspicions in the Elector's mind about the origin of the plan; they have persuaded Oldenbarnevelt to take care of the matter and write to Sticke.
