Contents The passage from England to Holland and Hamburg requires armed naval protection with the result that letters are delayed. – Christian IV's envoy is expected to arrive in England any day, but very few will give him a favourable reception. – Buckingham will put to sea with 30 English and 20 Dutch ships on August 1st. There are no land forces. In spite of his monetary difficulties, Charles has been able to raise 3,600 soldiers in Scotland to reinforce Mansfeld's army.
